while doing some online exploration of abandoned places, i learned that the traditional amusement park (i.e., the non-water ride) side of geauga lake park has been dismantled and demolished by cedar fair, who purchased the park a few years ago. the building that housed you sing recording studios did not survive the six flags acquisition and remodeling of the late '90s or early millennium, of course, but this structure--similar in shape and style--took its place (image courtesy of illicitohio.com):
this is a real bummer. my youth is slowly being torn down and replaced with things shinier. chrissy hines wasn't fooling. (a few more images from illicitohio.com are below. see these and many more in his geauga lake gallery.)

I observed this old poster (from 1938) while eating at Logan's Roadhouse in Austin, Texas. Seems a tad out of place, considering the location of Chippewa Lake Park (even more here and here, along with another excellent resource here.) Interesting, to say the least.
